Hello and welcome to my website!
I'm Omid Jafari, and I recently earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from New Mexico State University. I also hold a Master's degree in Computer Software Engineering from Azad University of Mashhad.
During my time at New Mexico State University, I spent over four years as a Graduate Research Assistant, immersing myself in the fascinating world of Big Data Management. My research focus was on high-dimensional data and query processing, leading to the development of novel algorithms, data structures, and index structures. My research contributions have been recognized in prestigious conferences, including SISAP 2020 and ICMR 2019. I was also fortunate to receive travel awards and scholarships for my academic excellence and leadership.
Additionally, I'm proud to mention that my dedication to research has led to the acquisition of permanent residency in the United States through the EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) category. The EB-2 NIW category is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional abilities and have made significant contributions in their field, allowing them to secure permanent residency based on their achievements and their potential to benefit the United States.
Beyond academia, I gained valuable industry experience during two summer internships at Vigilant Technologies. Here, I developed a Natural Language Processing engine that greatly improved information worker efficiency and optimized data query times through the implementation of a MongoDB database.
While my journey as a graduate research assistant has concluded, I invite you to explore different sections of my website to learn more about my past research and experiences. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or simply want to connect.
Thank you for visiting!
